Short Trip to Segamat 11- 13 May 2007

I have always wanted to take those steam engine train... But guess could only find those in Europe. Those kind of train in Harry Potter. But for now, I will make do with the trains in Malaysia. Thanks Ed for making the effort to let me take a train to explore Malaysia. =)

9Am: Train got delayed for half an hour
The train was quite comfy and cheap. RM20 for one way trip to Segamat- A town in Malaysia

Me and Ed's mum

Ed at the train canteen. Impressed that there is a canteen!

1Pm: Reached Segamat

3pm: Drove to Melaka

His uncle drove @ average car speed of 130km/hr with the road in bends and turns. Not for the faint-hearted.

5pm to 8pm: Melaka- Sightseeing

Jonker Walk is a very interesting cultural night street opposite the red house. A mix of everything, ranging from pub, mortuary, those dialect hui guan, and those pasar malam stalls. Sells relatively cheap brain teasers toys and hairbands. A pity we only had a few hours there. I will really like to go back and shop shop see see again! There is also a stage where people can sing karoake, usually those dialect songs. Quite funny and nostaglic. Like our chinatown during new year. Is a wonder how everything could blend in a street.

Super nice dessert at Jonker Walk. They have gula melaka on top of it. Cost only RM 2.5/bowl. The best part is that it melts in your mouth and the serving portion is just nice. There are several stallls selling it but I remembered is the first dessert stall that sells it and the shop is know for its muesum artifacts. I was totally engrossed with my dessert that I never notice my surroundings.

Dinner at this Chicken rice ball restaurant. I realise then that Melaka is famous for their rice balls. Kinda disappointed as the rice ball was a bit soggy and sticky for my liking. Not cheap too. Recommend to eat at those street stalls where they serve nicer and cheap food.

8pm: Back to Segamat.A 2 hours drive back. Credits must be given to his uncle and aunt who brought us around.
