Taiwan Day 8 (10 June Sun)

Breakfast 9am:
Ting Yun mum's whipped up a sumptuous breakfast. Touched!

Morning 10 am:

Went to Zhong Zheng Da Xue where Ting Yun's dad was teaching at. Heard from Ting Yun that liu2 xing1 hua1 yuan2 was taken down there. Those were the days where I was so crazy over the F4.

Afternoon12pm:

Ting Yun's mum treated us to some rare deliciaes which some I dont dare to try at all. There is a chicken penis meal, which looks like mini sausage. However, I still dare not muster up enough courage to eat it.

Some rare soup. I forgot what was it. But it tasted normal and not bad. Tasted like bak kut teh.

Nice delicious prawns

This is it.. Looks scary right!!!!!!!!!!
There are still a lot of nice food such as Fish and Unagi, but I was so foreigner when I keep snapping photos.. hee. So I ate my food quietly. Act demure. haha.
Thanks Ting Yun and Family for treating us so well when we were there. Will miss the laughters in your house!

After our meal, we took the 2pm bus to go back to Taipei. Ting Yun's dad cut the tian mi mi pineapple for us to eat on the trip back. They also packed some tit bits for us to eat along the way. So sweet!

Evening 6pm:
We went to the 24 hour Cheng Ping Shu Dian then took a train to get to Zhongxiao to get to the Book street. I continue on my shopping spree. Bought stickers and some cute cute books. Oh ya, I chance upon the cart when I was at the Book street. This uncle was selling some white spongy chestnut look alike thingy. After asking him, I realise it was muah chee. But it looks different from those in Singapore.

Uncle will wrap the lighter peanut filling into the muah chee then coat it with the darker peanut powder. Sweet and chewy. Nice! The uncle was very nice. He wanted a photo of us taken together and even treated us to 5 extra when we ordered 10 of them. Nice Uncle!

10pm:

Headed back to Ximending to eat the Oyster! Tasted completely different from those in Singapore. More chewy and the gravy is sweet. Not bad but I still prefer those in Singapore

Ate this cuttlefish geng1 at Xie Xie. Those the soup base!!!! Heard from my Taiwanese frenzs that this Xie xie outlet has been at Ximending for very long and is a lao zhao pai.

Continued on my Catch a toy spree. Caught this two sweeties, a hamburger and a chocolate cake! Actually it rolled down after the one that I caught dropped on to the pile that is below. Iw as so excited then!!!

My supper! Aloe vera snow flakes at __ Xiong Di. Forgot the surname but this is quite popular. Their employee will give out free name card size coupons to redeem free pearls when you buy any of their dessert. Very nice!

Back at work!

This week I have been on mostly half day jobs!!! Stock take, cash count, stat review and audit all in a week! Cant believe it. My first week back in office and I have to move around so much!

Luckily the job is still alright! I am now on OA, Nothing much to do. Hope my Thu and Fri will be good also! Wonder why they want to book me 2 days for half day each. It is seriously not very time effective except for the fact that they want me to do overtime for it. =(

Oh ya, I am now hooked to playing DS. Ed got one and Coconut got one. It is really very fun to play! Love the dancing game.

This WEEK

Monday 18 June: Went to Malaysia to catch movie and shopping with Ed and Coconut.

Watched 鬼阿鬼啊!A super lame show. Luckily we only paid RM5 for it. The theatre only had three of us and I kept on complaining throughout the show. The worst show I have ever watched. I was dissatisfied so we caught Ocean Thirteen. Much better. Brad Pitt is so handsome. Ed's parents then treated my sis and I for lunch and dinner. Nice nice. Despite they say Malaysia is becoming more dangerous, I still love the place. Just have to be more careful.

We then went to City square to shop. I bought myself a top. I only spent RM60 for the whole day. Great achievement! Considering the fact that I bought MacDonald, 1 top and titbits.

Tuesday 19June: Tuition in the morning and met up with Ed to shop around

Wednesday 20 June: Met up with Catherine for breakfast at coffee bean. I am surprise that they serve breakfast and at an affordable price of about $7. There is also free refills. A healthy breakfast.

Thursday 21 June: Back to work for training session. Met up with Ed, Yumin and Henree in the evening for dinner at Queensway. It was nice catching up old times with them. They were shopping for furniture. So nice. They are like a newly wed couple shopping for furnitures!

Friday 22 June: My last day of TOiL. Sob.. Went with my sister, Coconut to Ding Tai Fung for Lunch. We are watching a Korean drama called Fantasy couple. The lead actress keep on saying she want to eat Zha Jiang Mian, thereby tempting us to eat also. We also ordered yummy xiao long bao.

Met up with Ed in the afternoon to SHOP! Was supposed to go rollerblading but the weather was not very good. I was more of like finding excuses of not going. Got phobia to blade. My blading skills is really lousy. I can walk even faster than I blade. Imagine my progress.

I bought RISK, a board game for ED. Many many years ago, Ed had already said he wanted to buy. But it was only when we saw that there was a 20% discount at Robinsons then I decided to buy for him. After discount was about $37. We played the game today at my house. Quite fun and I claim to be the winner. haha!

Oh ya, when we were walking from Orchard to PS. I happened to see a crowd outside PS. There was a gal with several envelopes on the floor. From the DJ, we knew that she has to open a envelope to see how much she has won inside. Surprisingly, the gal managed to win the most money. $50 in a envelope!!!! Next, the DJ from FM88.3 wants another player and guess what, he chose me. He nearly stressed me out when I knew that I had to answer a question correctly before I could open the envelope.I had to guess a singer and luckily after much hints from the DJ, I managed to guess correctly. Ed keep on mouthing the answer out but I just could not get it. The answer was Tao Zhe but what I saw Ed mouthing was Chong Qing. Haha. Much to my excitement, I only won $2 but this was better than nothing. With that $2, we did this. But.... Today never win. =( No luck. Hahah.

Ed and I then decided to sign up for the Mizuno Run wave on 22 July. Woo hoo, we signed up for the 5km fun run. Anybody else interested to join??? The only downside is that we have to wake up super early. We have to report 630am at Temasek Poly Sports stadium.

We then ended off the day at Thai Express. I love it!!!! Ate once before we left Taiwan and we were craving for it again. The phat thai which describe that only beer could quench the fire is really very nice! Very shiok. Ed ordered a fried rice which said that it was the King fav food. That was just so-so.. A bit salty. I enjoyed my day today!

Saturday 23 June: Woke up at 11am. Kickboxing at 1pm. Ed came over to my place to play RISK. Fun game. Need strategy and luck to expand your territory. I make a lot of noise during the game. hahaa.. I kept complaining that Ed foul during the game.

Sunday 24 June: Going to teach tuition in the afternoon. Going to meet Ed to shop for his present. Got to shop before the GST hike.

Realised that I met Ed the whole of this week!!! hehee.. Cant believe it. but I am enjoying times spent with him.

Taiwan Day 7 (9 June Sat)

Morning: Was supposed to head up to Ah Li San. However the weather has been raining for the past few days and a few cars have been hit by falling debris. We thus had a change of plans and Ting Yun's mum suggested us accompanying her to some gathering with Principals and Teachers. By the way, my friend's mum is actually the principal of a primary school while her day is a professor and a university. Impressive.
饭团. You Tiao, peanut and some salty vegetables wrapped in glutinious rice. Tasted not bad.

We then followed his mum up 梅山。I hope I remembered correctly. We went up to view the scenery. Seriously, Ed and I did not know where we were heading as their parents have arranged for us. So we were hurried into the car and off we went! This peanut is very nice. Haha. I bought a packet back to Sinapore. Cant imagine that I can even buy stuff at the restaurant where we were having lunch. We joined all the teachers and principal for a free lunch. Haha..

A delicacy. 山猪皮。I dont like it.. Rubbery and a tangy taste. But Ed said it was nice. Different preferences.

Ed, Ting Yun, Me and Ting Yun's Mum. The wind was going strong!

The scenery that we saw up at the 梅山。

Afternoon 4p.m.: We took a train to get to Jia yi.
The tear dropped shaped sweet was super sweet. Luckily I bought one only. I could not even finish one and had to throw it after 2 bites. Too sweet for my liking.

This is called 状元糕. Very nice. Taste like Tuk tuk kueh but even nicer. The skin is spongy, full and moist. The fillings are either black sesame or peanut. Only saw this food at Jia yi. Must try!

Ting yun is a good catcher. She caught this Mushroom for Ed and I. Love it. She got me hooked to the toy catching machine when I was back in Ximending. haha. Ed literally had to pull me out for each stall.

This basketball machine is also very common. My ball aiming is super lousy. Got a point of only 18, Ed 30plus while Ting Yun got about 50. Some experts can play up to 100.

Our day ended off with 喷水鸡肉饭。Jiayi is famous for chicken rice. Shredded chicken with some special sauce gravy white rice. I still prefer Hainanese Chicken rice.

Taiwan Day 6 ( 8 June Fri)

Morning: Went to Shandao Temple station, Hua Shan Shi Chang for breakfast. Highly recommended by my Taiwanese friends. Must try the hou4 shao1 bing3. But i love the round ball with sesame on top. There are two kinds, salty and sweet. I tried only the salty one and it is yummy!

After breakfast, we went back to Ximending to walk around and to have lunch. Barely 2 hours after breakfast, we went to 谢谢 for 鱿鱼geng and dumplings. The soup based is nice and the geng thingy is actaully cuttlefish in flour batter. Taste qutie unique. I love their soup base, creamy and bursting with flavour. However, I am not too passionate about their dumplings so in the end, Ed has to eat up the whole 9 dumplings.

At 2pm, we went to the train station to catch a train to go to 大林 to find Ting Yun. After 3.5 bus ride, we finally reached at about 730p.m.

Our dinner was treated by her mum. The below is Geese meat, which is served chilled. Taste like duck meat.

This fish is nice. Nothing much spectacular..

This is 甜蜜蜜凤梨。I have never eaten such a nice pineapple before. Very sweet and very smooth. It does not bite your tongue At all!!! Amazing. As this is the season for pineapples, they eat this almost every meal. I love it. Ting yun has been betrusted with the name as 甜蜜蜜小姐。

This is 香瓜。 The shape is unique. While walking around the neighbourhood, I chance upon the fruit store and bought those which I find special, the 香瓜 and the Taiwan Mangoes. They are smaller in size but it is also very sweet. I love taiwan fruits. Ok so far, I have not really say anything that I dont really like. Haha. Oh ya, the 香瓜actually taste like honeydew.

The Taiwan mangoes. You can just peel the skin off and consume it.

Our supper. 东山鸭头。 I am not sure if it is spelled like that but the name is similar. Remember earlier we went to the 卤味 place and just ordered toufu and egg. This time round, after Ting Yun's recommedation, we tried the Ya1 Dan3 and the 鸭脖子 and 猪血糕。 The 鸭脖子 is very nice. Cant believe I really ate it. This franchise is special as they will fry it, making it exceptionally tasty. I ate twice during my 2 days at dalin. I saw this outlet at Shilin also.

Night spent catching up times with Ting Yun. Thanks gal for letting us stay at your place. We really enjoyed it!

Taiwan Day 5 (7 June Thu)

First Stop: 公馆(University Area)

At 台北大学

The school premises.

While walking from 公馆 to get to the 台湾棋院,we passed by a traditional bakery shop and we bought the biscuit to munch on. It melts in your mouth but it is a bit dry.

Second Stop: 台湾棋院

After half an hour walk from 公馆, we finally reached our destination. Ed wanted to buy a fan from the 棋院, written by his idol, 吴清源。

Third Stop: Street opposite 公馆
A lot of eateries and book stores. Ed bought a lot of books there. Mainland Chinese Books are exceptionally cheaper compared to those in Singapore.

This drink is very nice. The special part is that the pearls are boiled with 黑塘。I ordered 青蛙撞奶,which is actually milk tea with pearls. This store is famous and heard from our Taiwanese frenzs that a long queue is inevitable. Luckily we were there early.

Their pearls' serving portions is very generous. I am a happy gal! Wanted to go for a second round but I was bloated after drinking one cup.

Me with a fried chicken. Very nice.

Third Stop: 顶呱呱。Unique but not very nice. The fries were made using sweet potato and the chicken wrap is actually rice dumpling wrapped in fried chicken skin.

Fourth Stop: 101 Plaza
We did not take the lift up as advised by the working personnel. He said that the weather was cloudy and we would not be able to enjoy the night scenery. As such, we just walked around and do SHopping! Did you notice the wordings on the building "Marry me? Diana" This is part of an adversting. Pretty interesting.

At 新光三越。At the entrance there is a sign to indicate how many people are within the building. Interesting.

Fifth Stop: Ximending

We ordered the cheese pork flavour. Quite nice.

老天禄卤味

阿宗面线。I realised throughout my 10days in Taiwan. I ate a total of 3 big bowls of it.. Haha!
