GC outing at Clark Quay

Photo taken before the meal. Famished...

Thanks to Wen Hao for making the effort to organize a meet-up. A year ago, we were still in the US having fun... Some photos taken at the Riverside Indonesian Restaurant. The food was nice and relatively reasonable. $13 for a 6 course meal. Quite decent... Will love to go again.

Guess the food explains it all ... The downside is that there must be at least 4ppl to enjoy the $10 6-course meal.

The full turnout. Quite a successful event! Cheers to Wen hao! Applause to all who turn up to. Yu Hui, let's look forward to the next outing. =)

Mizuno Wave Run 2007 22 Jul (Sun)

I woke up at 5am on a Sunday Morning.. I sacrifice my sleep beacause of my first marathon, Mizuno Wave Run.

Registration starts at 630am at Temasek Polytechnic, located at Bedok. And imagine I am staying at Bishan! Luckily, I realise that somewhere near my house, there is a somewhat direct bus going to Temasek Polytechnic.

Amidst all my preparations, I woke up in horror to find it was raining heavily at about 5am. I quickly nudged Ed (who was staying over at my place the night before) to ask him should we still go. However I was still quite stubborn and insisted in going. Afterall this was my first marathon.

When the rain got smaller, we took a cab down (after 20mins of waiting in the rain.) We wanted to call a cab but clever us, we left our handphones at home.

We successfully reached at 715am and the weather had gotten better. I was surprise by the optimistic turnout. We then warmup and started running.

We completed the run in 30 mins! I did not know we have finished the run as there was no indication of "Finish Line". When i was near the ending point for the 5km fun run, what I heard was " 10km runners, please keep to the left." My mind was then yelling, " What about the 5km runners? Arent we runners too!!!"

As I need to answer nature's call and with a restroom in sight, I dashed for it. Ed then caught hold of me and asked me to pass him my goodie bag tag. I was like "Are you 100% certain that we have finish?" Anyway, there is no harm in giving him the tag.

Guess what, when I came out of the washroom, Ed was holding both goodies...

Woo-hoo, we have really completed the run. I was so proud of myself! We also managed to save ourself from queuing as Ed was one of the first few to collect the goodies. About 15mins later, the queue was horrendous!

Clueless about if there is any other activities going on, Ed and I left the place at about 9am for a nice breakfast.

Oh ya, we signed up for another 12km Safra run on Sunday too!! Upcoming event in End August. Looking forward to it. I am sure I can finish 12km in maybe an hour plus plus.. (Cross my fingers *^^*)

Simpson Movie on 25 Jul (Wed)

I am not a cartoon person. However Ed is real lover for cartoons, especially Simpson. Being a nice gal, we went to catch the sneak preview on Wed. Amazingly it is nice and I enjoyed my show thoroughly. It is definitely more interesting and action pack as compared to the Harry Potter which I watched last week for the company event.

My cookery class lesson 1, 2 and 3

Signed up for this dim sum class with Mummy. A total of 8 lessons, conducted on every thu for 3 hours. I nearly dozed off while listening to the teacher. 3 hours is really long!

So far these are what I have learnt after attending three classes, red bean kueh, fried char shao bun, fried red bean pancake, chee cheong fun, green onion cake and prawn cake.

I was so enthu about the red bean pancake that over the weekend, mum and I decided to practice our skills in making the fried red bean pancake. And tata. We suceeded.!!!! Delighted me. Besides that, I have also learnt another lesson. Cooking is really tedious. I kept on perspire when I was kneading the dough. Haha!

Red bean kueh

Fried char chao bun.

DId not really like it. The bread texture was too rough.

Yummy Fried red bean pancake

The way in preparing the pastry skin is very interesting. HAve to twist here and there to create the layered texture. Interesting~

Nice chee cheong fun

Filed with prawns and meat.

Green Onion Cake.
The texture is chewy chewy. Did not know that it could taste nice with just green onion inside.

Fried prawn cake

Very nice too. Did your realise most are fried...

Ping Party @ Geek Terminal on 07/07/07

Went to this cool party at Geek Terminal on 07/07/07 (SAT) after my bf said that he is going to support the Founder, Uzyn. I must admit that initially I went for it because of the free food! And I thought it will be very cool to go to a place called Geek Terminal. I was expecting something like those "Expo-kind" It was only on that day, I realise that Geek Terminal is actually a cafe located at OUB centre, opposite Golden Shoe.

I was "wow" by the place. I did not expect they even have an indoor seminar kind of room. By the way, they serve real nice coffee. Check them out below.

Our first cup of coffee. Ed bought this just mins before there was free flow of drinks to any beverages off their list. But the $$ we paid for was totally worth it. This is my first time seeing patterns made in front of my eyes. By the way, the drink was about $4.

I then tried the hot mocha coffee. Totally heart it!! HEard from the patrons there that their hot coffee sells better.

I really enjoyed the party. Though a bit lost (as I did not know anyone there except for my bf and his friends) But, you can really see how cohesive the ping community is. Check out the webbie at http://www.ping.sg/.

Taiwan Day 9 ( 11 June Mon)

Breakfast at 815am: The Cafeteria opposite our Hotel. The Dan4 Bing on the left is very nice.

Morning 9am:

Left Ximending. Took 2 hours to get to Liu Fu Chun. I was quite looking forward to it after Shujie said her bf was very much into it. However on the way up, I realised liu fu chun was quite ulu, and quite run down. Our spirits were dampen as I was expecting something comparable to Disneyland. I guess is the expectations that we have set. Actually I think there was less than 100 ppl on the day that we went. We do not need to queue for any rides and there were hardly any people in sight. "It will be more interesting if we could queue for maybe 2 mins" (Quoted from Ed)

We took almost all the rides that could fit us! Haha. Some rides we even sat twice or thrice as we dont even need to queue at all! That's why Ed is in a shoe turning round and round.

See just me and Ed on board the Merry Go ROund.

There is a zoo theme in Liu fu Chun. Thought the zoo theme was much better than those in Singapore. They have a open concept zoo and in the comfort of this steam engine train, you can tour around and have close up views of the animals.

I made a cup and had 2 photos of this. Found it very cute. My expression was about to cry while Ed was super happy. This was a candid shot by the machine. We were sitting the "Pagoda's Revenge" This was my first time sitting the free fall like game. Scary when I heard that it was 17 storeys high. However, it was actually really nothing to be scared off. Before I could feel the thrill, the ride was over. A bit anti climax.

The one tallest with an Egyptian head is the "PAgoda's Revenge"

The two peaks, one is straight while the other is twisted is called the "Screaming Condor" THis is real scary. 100times for scary than the Pagoda's Revenge. After mustering much courage, I sat that. The ride will go up and down twice. This compensated for the less exciting rides in Liu Fu Chun. Our impression took a slight turn after sitting this.

Close up view of the Screaming Condor. It looks much scarier when you see it from below. It was not that scary when you are on it. Make sure you are not full when you see on it. Every ride there is bound to be people who puke from the ride.

7p.m: Ximending
Dinner at Ximending. We decided to try this after I saw nice reviews about this. The ambience is nice and though it is a restaurant, the price is more affordable than those in Singapore. We spend a total of about S$30 at this restaurant but we were very full and satisfied!

Soup and Salad

Mine is curry udon with seafood

Ed's curry rice in beef.

Ed's dish selling point it that there is free refills of rice and curry! But after the second serving of his rice, he was too full to eat any other stuff!

Green tea dessert at Magic Curry. It was amazingly nice.

Our Taiwanese friends keep on asking us to eat this thing called Yannick at a shopping centre at Ximending. THe one opposite the KTV! However they did not say what was it. So we went in search for this good food highly recommended by our frenzs. Was so ma lu as I pronounced the name wrongly but luckily the salesperson there still can get understand what we are asking for. SO ta ta our Yannick... A hazelnut cake. Yannick is actually the brand of a cake. Faint.

I ate a total of 9 凉圆 (=NT30) all by myself as Ed does not eat anything sweet. Looks pretty but only taste so so. The honeydew one was not too bad though.

I caught Ah Gei. 11 June is his birthday. I was so happy that I kept smiling all the way back to our hotel. The person at the shop was very nice. They will put the toy back in its original place once it got out of position so that it will be easier for you to catch. The shop is near Ximending but I forgot the name of the shop. Somemore it was really worthwhile. Catch small dale get big dale. I caught it at NT140 (=S$7)! SUper worth it!
