Safra AHM 2007

Safra AHM run this morning at esplanade drive! Had to report at 7am.

This is like a sneak preview of what is like for the standard chartered marthon that we going to run in Dec. A freaking 42km run. Wonder what was going on in my mind when I agreed to run with Ed. Hee. But it is going to be a great achievement if I did manage to complete the run.

The run today was pretty organised and fun. My sister and her friends came for the run too. In the end, the run was like a competition between her group and us. Whenever I saw my sister is approaching, I will start to run so that i am always a step ahead of her. Hehe. I am pretty lazy when it comes to run. Ok, in the end my sister won! haa.

Guess I have to start training on inclination. Was a torture when I had to run on the hilly highway. Jia you Cindy, you can do it!

WOMAD 24 Aug (Friday)

WOMAD- Acronym for World of Music Arts & Dance.
A 3 day event. Ed and I went on the first day. An interesting platform which showcasts a wide variety of great different kind of music. We reached at 7pm and stayed till 1140pm. My personal favourite are the Mahotella Queens from South Africa.

They are a group of 10 people although only about 6 turned up on that day. Their age are generally above 50 years old. Oh boy, the ladies really can dance despite their age. Their bubbly personalities and happy song is a great start to the event.

The Fort Canning Park Center.

Me and the WOMAD icon

While seated on the grass watching the performance. The drinks are on the house. Thanks to the Sponsor.

United us!

Helping ourselves to the free drink. The cool part is that the drinks are inside this big huge container made of ice.

The Fort Green Stage

Another of my personal favourite- Taste the World. An event which WOMAD artiste whip up a dish for us to try. I got the luck of trying out mouth watering speciality from Senegal called Chicken Yassa by Daara J. The cooks in action...

Quite nice. Sweet and sour. Quite delicious. Rice is those sticky type but the green thingy is too sour for my liking.

I succumbed to temptation. Ordered the beer butt chicken from Bloodie's Roadhouse Bar & Grill. Nice nice. Cost $9 with the nacho chips. An eventful day!

Food reviews

Far East Square
There is the chinese cake shop near the push cart selling the Algera shoes. Love these panda cakes. Thanks Huixian for the recommendation. It is the nicest egg cake that I have eaten. $1.10/ panda cake.

Orchard Cathay Cineleisure Basement
BBQ Chicken.
A new food outlet from Korea.

My food, Hot hot drums. Cost about $6 plus for these 2 drumsticks. The chicken is very juicy and the hotness is just nice for my liking. Thought it tasted nicer than KFC.

Ed's sandwich. Quite disappointing. Serving portion is way too small! Moreover the bread was so hard! The filling inside is so little that the bread mask the chicken taste. Will not recommend their sandwich.

Plaza Singapura basement 1:
Q Q Rice.

Originated from Taiwan. There are a total of 4 rices (mixed grain rice, purple rice, wheat germ brown and brown rice) to choose from. I choose the purple rice and the wheat germ brown rice.

After which you can choose 5 fillings to be put inside your rice wrap. There are a total of about 30 fillings to choose from. To play safe, I chose mushrooms (quite nice, though I know Gen hates them. haha), tandoori chicken, turkey bacon, pan fried egg and japanese cucumber. They will heat up the food before serving.

Tasted quite healthy. I went for the set menu which includes the purple rice drink. Tasted like soy bean with a hinge of the purple rice. However I felt that the drink was too bland for my liking. Oh ya, they have pudding to go along too. I have yet to try that though.

A set meal with the wrap and the drink cost $4.90. Not exactly cheap but still affordable. Will eat it when I want to feel healthy. Haha. However my first choice will still goes to subway.

Interesting Japanese food

Nicknamed Voo Doo Chips by the Straits Time. I got hold of it but due to the long queue at Fairprice Bishan, I put it back. Since two weeks back, i have yet to get it. It is always out of stock since the review. Will really love to get my hands on these chips soon. By the way, I love gyoza!
Grape biscuit. Saw it on a review some time back. Was so excited when I saw it. But was kinda disappointed with the biscuit. A bit too soft for my liking. Moreover, the price was a bit pricey for 16 biscuits. Cost at $3.10/pack.
While on my sourcing for the voodoo gyoza chips, I chanced upon these marshallows. The interesting thing is that it is filled with collagen. I have yet to buy it as I dont really like collagen. Tried the fancl TenseUp, tasted still ok. Oh ya, for the new vitagen collagen series, I thought the rose and lavender taste were weird. The original is still ok. After my experiences with collagen, were a bit apprehensive about collagen. But for the sake of beauty, maybe will give these sweets a chance!

Cookery Class 6 and 7

Cookery Class 6:
Lotus paste bun.
The bun skin is layered. Looks seem healthly, but actually the skin is quite fattening due to the use of crisco. (A type of oil) Moreover the lotus paste is quite high in sugar content.

Char Shao Bao. Love these. The trick to make the bun rip apart at the top is to seal the top with slightly flatter flour.
Cookery Class 7:
Yam Paste. One of my favourite tim sum. Nice nice.

Multi layer pastry with lotus paste inside.

Glass painting 29 July 2007

The organsier! My second class with them Previously was doing clay sculpting. Prefer that more. Glass painting is easier though. Love to go on art classes. Considered quite a deal to go for classes organised by THE NEW PAPER which cost $20/person. If I were to enter personally outside will cost $80/person/session.

Me at work!

Persuaded Ed to go with me. A complete lost look! Luckily we just trace the figure on the glass. My hands nearly cramped while doing the outlines. The teacher even joked " We will have a way with eyeliners, next time round."
My final product!

His masterpiece!

Secretary life ~Feeling contented

My second day of being a secretary. Quite nice and relaxed. Nice company and nice companionship. Because I am just a relief, so dont have the full scope of secretary. On my first day, I was remarking how I can stand an extreme quiet environment. I could even hear my own breathing in the room.

But... All this change on the second day. I guess I could live with it forever forever.
